sahana vavathu and sahana, my classmate:-)

I sang it for almost seven years. They made us recite sahana vavathu before we started our breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Never worried what it meant (Actually what we more worried were the number of idlis we had in our plates. :-) The numbers were never enough for us. We used to go for the second time after finishing those four idlis. Of course, by deceiving the one who was serving) .

After the completion of my secondary education whenever I remembered it, I thought it is to be something related to the way of having our food. To have it in silence or something of that type. I also remembered the way we used to tease a girl named Sahana by reciting the shloka. Dirty work of course. :-)

Yesterday my friend (who happens to be a girl :-) ) asked me the meaning of asatoma sadgamaya. While I was searching on the nettappa I found few shlokas that we often use and more commonly be blind to its meaning. I present those shlokas with their meaning for you. I think you will like it

Sahana vanathu for you:

Om Sahana Vavatu Sahanau Bhunaktu
Sahaveeryam Karavavahai
Tejas Vinavati Tamastuma vidhwishavahai

Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi

May He protect both of us. May He nourish both of us. May we both acquire the capacity (to study and understand the scriptures). May our study be brilliant. May we not argue with each other. Om peace, peace, peace.

Asatoma sad gamaya:

Asato Ma Sadgamaya
Tamaso Ma Jyotir gamaya
Mrityorma Amritam gamaya
Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi

Lead me (by giving knowledge) from the unreal to the real; from darkness (of ignorance) to the light (of knowledge); from death (sense of limitation) to immortality (limitless liberation)

Sarve bhavantu sukhinaha:

Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinaha
Sarve Santu Niramayah
Sarve Bhadrani Pashyantu
Mas Kaschid Dhuka Bhag Bhavet

May all be happy. May all enjoy health and freedom from disease. May all enjoy prosperity. May none suffer.

Ya devi sarva bhooteshu:

Ya Devi Sarva Bhooteshu Lakshmi Roopena Samsthita
Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namaha

Salutations again and again to the Devi who abides in all beings in the form of good fortune.

Guru brahma:

Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu
Gurur Devo Maheshvarah
Guru Shakshat Param Brahma
Tasmai Sri Gurave Namah

Know The Guru To Be Brahma Himself. He Is Vishnu. He Is Also Shiva. Know Him To Be The Supreme Brahman, And Offer Thy Adoration Unto That Peerless Guru.

Gajananam bhuta ganati:

Gajananam Bhuta Ganathi Sevitam
Kapittha Jambu Palasara Bhaksitam
Uma Sutam Shoka Vinasha Karanam
Namami Vignesvara Pada Pankajam

He who has the face of an elephant, one who is worshipped by the Bhootha ganam, He who eats the essence of kapitha and Jumbu fruits, He who is the son of Uma Devi and He who allieviates the ill feelings in us. O! Lord Vigneshwara who is an embodiment of all the above, we offer our Namaskarams at your Divine feet.

Gayathri mantra:

Om Bur Buvah Suvaha
Thath Savithur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhi-Mahi
Dhiyo Yonaha Prachodayat

Oh God! Thou art the Giver of Life, Remover of pain and sorrow, The Bestower of happiness, Oh! Creator of the Universe, May we receive thy supreme sin destroying
light, May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction.

DID I?

We do mistakes. There is nothing wrong about them. But at the end of the day, do we go back to our actions and ask ourselves “did I do anything wrong?” . Do we introspect? . If we did, this world have been a far better place to live in.

Did I ever wonder
If I did this blunder?.

I had this identity crisis
Spoke in the middle, acted rubbish,
Seemed nuisance to others.
Did I ever wonder
If I did this blunder? .

I wanted to make money
I wooed my friends
Then made them feel like M TV bhakras
I tried to demolish their faith in friendship.
Did I ever wonder
If I did this blunder? .
(I am speeking of E BIZ kind of activities. Isn’t it doing more bad than good? . Apart from making money can we find one who has been benefitted from the so called learning activities that it boasts about. I want you to give your opinion about this.)

I copied in the exam
I lied to myself that it is something very common
And I could never be as morally strong as I was before
Did I ever wonder
If I did this blunder?
( isn’t it important to be morally strong?. Isn’t it a source of strength that needs to be cultivated? )

We freaked out, we made joy
Talked about friendship rocking
And when my friend was in very need of my help
Well, I preferred not to take risk
Did I ever wonder
If I did this blunder?

I always thought of my shortcomings
couldn’t reap out of my abilities
was lazy and didn’t read
never realized why I am here
I cheated my parent’s faith in me
Did I ever wonder
If I did this blunder?

I watched bad movies
I tried to give the reason, adolescence
Was I ever fair even to myself?
No, never
Did I ever wonder
If I did this blunder?

Hey, let us stop this. Let us go back to our actions. Let us at least be fair to ourself. Shall we?

Today’s Quote: It is the individual who is not interested in his fellowmen who has the greatest difficulties in life and provides the greatest injury to others. It is from such individuals that all human failures spring.

A FRIEND, AN ORNAMENT, A SOLACE, AND WHAT NOT!

We all feel proud while filling up our educational qualifications. B.E., B Sc., MBA etc.. (ond kala ithu. Maga engineering odtha idane andre saku, mane munde henn kodoke queue nitkoltha idru!. Kala enu tumba badlagilla. Eeglu kooda nammane munde queue nitkondirthare. Adhre…. bus hathoke aste :-) ). But have you ever wondered how sacred is education?. If not, don’t worry. I will let u know. I got this beautiful quote from my pocket book. Here i present it for you fellows..

Education is an companion that no misfortune can depress,

No crime can destroy,

No enemy can alienate (alienate: cause to feel isolated),

No despotism (despot: a ruler who exercises absolute power especially in a cruel or oppressive way) can enslave.

At home, a friend;

Abroad an introduction;

In society an ornament;

In solitude a solace (solace:consolation in time of distress).

It chastens the vice,

It guides virtue,

It lends at once grace and government to genius.

Without it what is man?
A splendid slave, a reasoning savage
(savage:primitive and uncivilized).

Be proud of yourself. You have got something that when you realize it’s worth, can do wonders for you.

THE BUDGET 2008, I CALLED IT THE ELECTION ANTHEM…:-)

Farmer the king (60,000 crore loan waiver)

Till the election bell ring.

Growth rate spells the magic (8.4%)

Still the wide spread malnutrition the tragic.

Defence budget crosses one lakh crore

Terror strikes become more and more.

Clear water for all(50% reduction in excise duty on water purifiers. Can the poor afford them? . Nothing much about sanitation)

Poor remain outside the wall.

Car tyres cheaper a bit.

Nowhere I am to benefit.

Central govt. employees made to wait (our finance minister did not say much about the sixth pay commission report. Lacks of central govt. employees are waiting for the pay hike.)

Sure, his party is not the one I am going to vote (i got placed in BEML):-)

TRYING TO BE PERFECT, ENDING UP WINNING…

It’s time to present my first article. Guys, it’s not easy. It’s just not easy to do this. It’s a general rule that the first one needs to be good, very good. One of my classmate who happens to be a girl wrote in my autograph book ”you will never get a second chance to make a good first impression”. It’s true dear, very true (actually my first impression had never been good with any girl. Girls in my class had started hating me by that time. I feel sorry for them and bad for myself. Through this I just want to say sorry to all them. Dear girls, give me a chance to punish myself, by the way which coffee day you want me to take you to.. :-) ). So for the last few days (after my introductory post) i was searching for the best topic, best article to begin with. But everything ended in vain. I never began. After all this is what I learnt for myself that I was just trying to be a perfectionist which was a bad idea. A really bad idea… Example: trying to be a perfectionist on a wedding night is still more a bad idea!:-)

So let me tell you why it is. Just think that you got married today. Today is your wedding night. Hey you, started dreaming already! (I think you got few more years to get into all that). If it is a love marriage you might have had the chance to understand her well. But I don’t think it would help you because I don’t think you would have had a chance to speak what she would love on a wedding night. And if it is an arranged marriage then it is a doom day for you. The battle gets tougher :-)

Hey even though I am beating around the bush, I am trying to make a point here. On that special night you are just, and just an anxious, insecure lover :-) . If you try to be perfectionist (I mean if you think you can make her happy all the way, surely you are the loser.). So guys, this person ‘the perfectionist’ never existed on this planet. So instead of trying to be a perfectionist what we can do is to run towards perfection. Of course it is a long journey but every step counts here. So just think doing your best. This only can bring the best in you. And I call this as ‘trying to be perfect, ending up winning’. What do you say….

Before concluding i just wanted to say that yesterday was our second day of college fest”technieks”. There was a funny song for which our guys danced. It went like this.. tommy tommy nammane nayi churuku andre churuku sada bogultane iruthe idra bayi harku :-) Don’t forget to leave your comment..

it’s ashok balakrishna to you….

Hi buddies, you know, just now i am on seventh heaven.I would love to let you know that guys, i am a papa now!! i don’t think you guys need me to explain how i became one. Reproduction chapter in biology has been always difficult for me.. :-)

Hey i am just eager. Very eager to tell you about my kid. She is just three days old. God! she haven’t had her first bath yet.The dirty doctor gave some medical reasons. Ho ho..got to wait for one more day. Nevertheless she is lovely. I love her a lot..

Friends, after much deliberation i have chosen her a name.I know, its bit long. But i am a great fan of bollywood movies. Kuch kuch hota hai, muje kuch kuch hota hai, muje kuch hua hai to tuje kya hai. They are all long too (actually, for the records, some of the movies has not been released. Please don’t ask me much about them) :-) . Ok, let me come back to where i started. Sometimes i go over board. I named her,my lovely kid as “open up!its time to express”!!!. I want you guys tell me how it is. Do i need to change it?. But i think she is very proud of her name. Whenever i call her by her name she just opens up.Jesus, she is so lovely…

But friends, there is something very important about my kid that i want to share it with you. That..it happened on her birth that should not have been happened. She lost her mother!. Now she has no one but me. I know, i cant give her all the love myself. But i love her. I cant let her miss anything in her life. And that’s why i am here. Begging for your love. I want you to be her friend, mother, uncle, aunt, brother, teacher, whatever role you love to take. Teach her all that she needs, all that you can. Give her that for which she will be grateful to you for her whole life…your love….i know, you wont disappoint me. Love you buddies..

(It is just to say that,i am not a good writer(i am a new kid on the block(blog!)). But i wish you will make me one by your suggestions, comments, your criticism etc etc.. I am here because i think i can make you a bit happy through my writings. I will be really satisfied even if your happiness lasts for a few seconds because i am sure that day by day i can make it longer. I assure you that i will give you my best. All i request is your love for my kid. I promise you that she is lovely and you will love her too….)

here for you..

yours

ash
