Yesterday the United States of America announced a bounty on the dreaded terrorist Hafeez Saeed. A bounty of 10 million U S Dollars. Similarly, there is a bounty of similar amount on Taliban founder Mullah Omar. The highest of this lot is Ayman al Zawahiri, the current leader of Laskar-e-Taiba with a bounty of 25 million U S dollars.

It is under a scheme called Reward for Justice that United States of America pays for information on these most wanted terrorists leading to their capture or elimination. The bounties are posted on U. S. State Department Reward for Justice Website. What it speaks is about the United States resolve to fight Terrorism. And we have already seen what United States Navy SEALs did in Abottabad under the operation code named Operation Neptune Spear.

So that is United States. That is the kind of tough decision the President and the bureaucracy down under takes in America. Let us understand it’s not easy to make such decisions. The example of the operation carried out by Central Intelligence Agency to eliminate the most dreaded terrorist in the world, Osama Bin Laden showed the real courage of American politicians. If Barrack Obama passes an order of this magnitude, just think of the confidence he enjoys from the fellow politicians, the opposition. It was a decision that could impact International relations. It was a decision to barge into outside country territories and carry out an attack. It was a decision that could have led to a war, direct or Jihad. It was a decision to risk the lives of the two Dozen soldiers of SOP(Special armed force) on a foreign soil. It was a decision taken under only 50:50 guarantee of Osama Bin laden actually staying inside that house compound in Abottabad. It was a decision in which the Navy SEALs didn’t even know the name of the person they were targeting!

Look at India. The only difference is that we have a Parliamentary system and it is Presidential system in America. If America goes on to announce a bounty of 10 million on Hafeez Saeed on the backdrop of 2008 Mumbai attack in which only 8 out of the 160 killed were Americans, what India has done in these 3 years?

I will quote bits of our respected Home Minister P Chidambaram’s statement after the announcement of the US bounty.

“India had shared enough dossiers with Pakistan on JuD founder Hafiz Saeed’s anti-India activities. Pakistan had offered to give Saeed’s voice sample to India but later reneged on the promise. There is enough material to detain and integrate him. We have consistently pressed for his arrest and interrogation. Pakistan was in denial mode, “Pakistan government is not doing its duty.”  “The fact that the US has finally recognised that Saeed and his organisation LeT were involved in terrorist activities may prod Pakistan to take action against him”.

When US do this much quoting the death of 6 Americans, where is the accountability for the death of 138 Indians? The Home Minister seems to be playing the infamous emperor Nero who fiddled when Rome burned. When Indian parliamentarians can’t take a strong view on the death sentence of Ajmal Kasab, where does PC’s “dossiers” will end up? This cowardice is not limited to any party. We have seen what happened in Kandahar when ruling party BJP’s top honchos made a decision to handover 3 terrorists including Maulan Massod Azhar in 1999.

Soon after his release, Masood azhar said, “I have come here because this is my duty to tell you that Muslims should not rest in peace until we have destroyed America and India.” Then he masterminded the attack on the heart of Indian democracy, the Parliament attack in Dec 13 2001 killing a dozen policemen. So, Indian parliamentarians in order to save 176 passengers just couldn’t resort to any tough decisions. The Intelligence Bureau chief A K Doval who led the 4 member negotiation team ending up in freeing 3 terrorists, called it a ‘Diplomatic failure’, a ‘Bloody Disgrace’ for India.

So, Indian politicians can only be better at playing petty politics putting the lives of 1.2 billion Indians at risk. What if Arvind kejrival calls them ‘rapists, murders and looters’?  I will call them the ‘the gutless guardians’. Tell us what you would like to call them..:-)
