It wakes me up

Up from the cozy comforts of a deep slumber.

It kicks me out

Out of the mutterings of a mediocre life

It pushes me down

Down from the dizzy heights of psuedo self content

It pulls me back

Back from the shallow depths of self burial

It pats me on the back

Back of that fearful step

It pushes me to the front

Front of that foggy future

It breaks me in

Into the masked walls of that mellowed heart

To re-live the flow that once it pumped

It’s that hunger

To be what I am

To do what I want

To be where I deserve to be.

Light up that hunger in you

It will do the burning for you…
